We are Giovanna and Cristina, 2 best friends who love to share their passion for food and cooking. Inspired by traditional Italian food passed down in our families by our mothers and grandmothers, we decided to open our homes to create memorable experiences for their guests. We believe that simple local food is the best food which is why we use fresh, local, seasonal ingredients in our dishes. Like many Italians we know that a good meal is only made better by a glass of wine and good conversation which is why we love to explain to ous guests about the dishes, the ingredients also what the joy of cooking and sharing a meal means to us. Relish the moment, Italian style, we take you on a journey and invite you to our table. Giovanna I work for the contemporary art museum in Rome and also uses my blog Burroealici.blogspot.it (Butter and Anchovies) to share my passion for food with others. Cristina After 7 years in London, I returned home where I run a small B&B in Rome. This is when I decided with my life-long friend, Giovanna, to create memorable experiences through sharing my culture and knowledge of food. Christina was alone snd very friendly. The table was set in a very simple way, not even with a cloth or placemats. The appetizers were permagiano regiano with honey, beans and "pita" bread. My friends who tasted the beans said that it was as if was opened from a can. For main corse we had a potatoes salad with octapus (and we asked for fish), not realy salted enough, a big barely "risoto" bowl which was good, meatballs in tomatoes sauce, (the sauce was good but the balls were very hard), and cicoria salad. For desert we had a ball of granita in coffee flavour with wippcream. The wine which accompanied the meal was very cheap by taste. We didn't have coffee/tea or a cake. Christina emphsized many times that we are eating a very simple Roman dinner, with basic ingridients as were used for generations. First, the food was not so good and tasty. Second , how come that we paid a lot of money, as in a very good restaurant and got a very basic and simple dinner? Even the wine was bad. It seems that there was not a passion or a good knowlege of cooking that was invested in this meal. Sorry. Mali
Cristina is a great host with a beautiful smile and personality to match. We met two people from England , Jeff and Belinda, and they were amazing, the food was awesome as was the company. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Rome to go and have a authentic Roman meal with Cristina and who ever else attends. Five stars in every category.
