8 years ago we left our respective homelands of Veneto, Italy and Melbourne, Australia and headed for Spain in search of adventure. 2 years later, we began hosting foodie events, Alberto with his epic seafood nights and Ella with her lush vegetarian banquets. We met at one such foodie night, and the rest, as they say, is awesome. After hosting events and classes for 2 years in our beautiful old apartment in the historic heart of Barcelona, we decided to take the leap and open our own gastronomic space. Our space, Espai EGG, opened in October and is home to a coworking kitchen for chefs as well as a space for cultural events and gastronomic workshops. We have focused on maintaining the intimacy of home dining, with all the benefits of our beautiful and more professional collaborative space. Our food is simple and delicious, and we tailor each of our tours, classes and dinners with love and care. We nurture relationships with local makers and producers who share our passion for honest food, and use organic produce wherever possible. ‘Bear on Bike’ as we are collectively known also offer production and catering services with a focus on sustainability and seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients. We are no-fake-stuff, no-plastic, all-natural, do-it-yourself kind of people, and we're looking forward to hosting you! --- Hace 4 años, Alberto y Ella dejaron sus respectivas tierras natales de Venecia (Italia) y Melbourne (Australia) y se dirigieron a España en busca de una aventura. 2 años más tarde, comenzaron a organizar eventos pop-up, Alberto con sus "épicas noches de marisco" y Ella con sus exhuberantes banquetes vegetarianos. Se conocieron en una de estas veladas gastronómicas y desde entonces, todo les ha ido de maravilla. Después de 2 años haciendo eventos en nuestro antiguo apartamento en el corazón histórico de Barcelona, decidimos hacer un gran salto y abrir nuestro propio espacio gastronomico. Nuestro local, Espai EGG, abrió puertas en Octubre y acoge a una cocina de coworking de chefs y un espacio para eventos culturales y talleres de cocina. Logramos mantener la intimidad de cenar en casa, con los beneficios de nuestra bella, más profesional, espacio colaborativo. Nuestra comida es sencilla y deliciosa, y preparamos cada uno de nuestros tours, clases o cenas con mucho cariño y cuidado. Establecemos relaciones con fabricantes y productores locales que comparten nuestra pasión por la comida "de verdad" y el uso de productos orgánicos siempre que sea posible . ‘Bear on Bike’ como nos conocen, también ofrecen servicio de producción y caterings enfocado a la sostenibilidad y ingredientes locales y de temporada. Come sarà l'esperienza a casa di Alberto & Ella
Our experience with Alberto was wonderful! It started with a very informative tour of La Boqueria. I had avoided visiting this market because of its touristy reputation, but after Alberto's tour of many of its wonders, I am eager to return and explore further. After we had purchased some fresh produce, we walked a short distance to their cooking classroom and patio. We began preparing the food for our multi-course luncheon. Alberto included us in every step of the preparation showing us proper chopping techniques and gave us a variety of other cooking tips. He was very personable, and we immediately felt like we were in our friend's kitchen. While we prepared the meal we were able to learn about life in Barcelona. Our meal started with an amazing charcuterie board with quality ibérica hams, sharp and mild cheeses, olives, homemade sauerkraut, sour dough bread and, of course, wine. This was followed by our fish course of crispy sardines and shrimp on basil aioli and baked baby potatoes. The final course was an amazing beef tenderloin cooked sous-vide and accompanied by a parsnip puree and braised artichoke hearts. It was delicious!! We were very impressed with the quality of this experience. We learned so much about Spanish food and culture in a very comfortable setting with a generous friend. We strongly recommend this tour to others who want an opportunity to experience Spanish food culture in a comfortable setting with a knowledgeable and very friendly host.

We actually had Alberto come to our location and cook the paella. He was on time and professional right from the start. He knows exactly what he's doing and what he needs to get things handled. This is refreshing for me because I know I don't need to babysit the chef's activities while managing 30 other people who all require my attention simultaneously. I will certainly look to Alberto the next time we require similar services and would recommend him to anyone who needs a pro to manage the culinary needs of their wishes. Bravo to Alberto and his partner in crime as everyone at our event was impressed.
